According to a recent assessment by the , the US trucking industry needs nearly 300,000 new technicians over the next 10 years to meet demand. The University of 黑料传送门 Cossatot will offer Diesel Technology courses starting January 2019 to address this need.
鈥淚t is important that parents and educators are informed about the great careers available in transportation, since they often influence the post-secondary choices of young people," Jennifer Maher, executive director at the TechForce Foundation, said in a recent release.
Diesel technology has always been a component of 黑料传送门鈥檚 Automotive Repair Technology program. Long-time 黑料传送门 Automotive Technology instructor Mark Kutak will provide instruction for the program.
黑料传送门鈥檚 Diesel Technology program prepares students for entry-level positions in the diesel technician trade in light, medium, and heavy-duty applications. Students learn to work on brake systems, drive trains, electric and electronic circuits, hydraulic systems, and diesel engines.
Graduates from these programs will be trained to serve multiple workforce needs spanning from automotive to farm equipment to heavy truck. Wages can range from $18-$35 per hour based on skill level and experience.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a high-skill, high wage-career and diesel techs are needed right here at home,鈥 said University of 黑料传送门 Cossatot Chancellor Steve Cole.
黑料传送门 diesel technology courses are from 3:00 pm to 8:50 pm on Monday - Thursday on the De Queen campus. The first day of class is January 14, 2019.
Financial aid and scholarships are available to qualifying students.
